Every holiday season Madison, Indiana is filled with magical things to see and do. Starting with the Madison Main Street Holiday Open House, brought to you by the Madison Main Street Program, November 12th through 14th, merchants kick off the holiday season with downtown stores all decked out along with special deals, extended hours, and refreshments.
The Friday after Thanksgiving, November 26th, the Nights Before Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes begins! Going through the weekends of November 26th-27th and December 3rd-4th, explore the six grand homes and four hospitality sites that will be decked out in all the holiday splendor! Make sure you’ve got your tickets to one of the best celebrations of the holiday season in Historic Downtown Madison!
That same Friday, Merry Madison will be lit for the Holidays through to the New Year, join us for ‘Light Up Madison‘ at the Broadway Fountain.
Also starting that night is the ‘Festival of Trees and Hosts of Angels‘ at Lanthier Winery, hundreds of glistening and glittering Christmas trees boast the winery – it’s a must see! The shopping continues on ‘Small Business Saturday.‘ Merchants will be ready for your visit! Stop at the Gazebo on Main Street to grab some “shop small” swag (while supply lasts)!
Another popular holiday attraction put on by the City of Madison comes the first Saturday in December every year ‘A Very Merry Madison Christmas Parade‘ down Main Street. On December 4th, gather around the Main Street sidewalks with a warm beverage in hand as you take in the mini-Macy’s Day Parade experience. Get ready for big town personality in a small town atmosphere. After the parade you won’t want to miss the Very Merry Madison Christmas Celebration. This free event will include free crafts for kids, hot chocolate, and more for the community to enjoy. Santa Claus and his reindeer will be joining the festivities until 1:30 p.m. and until 3:00 p.m. families can enjoy a trackless train and ice skating rink. And if that’s not enough to get you in the holiday spirit, before, during, and after the parade along Broadway street, vendors will be selling their crafts at the Annual Christmas Craft show from 9:00am to 3:00pm! All the proceeds will go to benefiting the senior citizens programs and events.
